Towards the north, there’s the breathtaking beauty of the Monteriggioni castle, built by the Sienese in the early thirteenth century, the Colle Val d’Elsa, an ancient town on Via Francigena, and San Gimignano, the Manhattan of the Middle Ages with amazing towers that touch the medieval sky.
